New Mexico Philharmonic Neighborhood Concerts to Return with Six New Programs in 2013-2014 Season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  ALBUQUERQUE, NM, July 15, 2013—The very popular Neighborhood Concerts presented by the New Mexico Philharmonic will return in the 2013-2014 Season with six concerts at three venues.

Opening the Neighborhood Concert Series will be a performance on Saturday, September 28th at 6 p.m. at First United Methodist Church featuring Schubert’s Mass in G, with the Choir of Central United Methodist Church. John Marchiando will perform Telemann’s Trumpet Concerto in D as well as Albinoni’s “San Marco” Concerto. The program will open with Grieg’s “Holberg” Suite. Well-known local talent Byron Herrington conducts.

On October 19th at 7 p.m. Matthew Greer conducts the Bach Magnificat, Pachelbel’s Canon in D, and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, featuring pianist Amy Greer and Quintessence Choral Artists of the Southwest.

The seasonal favorite, Handel’s Messiah, will be performed by the New Mexico Philharmonic with the Choir of Central United Methodist Church. David Felberg conducts the concert on Friday, December 6th at 7 p.m.

In the new year, mezzo-soprano Deborah Domanski will perform “Favorite Arias” and Matthew Greer will conduct the orchestra in Haydn’s Symphony No. 94 in G major on Saturday, February 15th at 7 p.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church.

The always anticipated performance by the winners of the Jackie McGehee Young Artists’ Competition is scheduled for Sunday, March 16th at 3 p.m. at the Central United Methodist Church, with the choir performing The Fauré Requiem. David Felberg will conduct.

The final Neighborhood Concert of the season will be on Saturday, March 22nd at 7 p.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church. Matthew Greer will conduct the orchestra and the Chancel Choir of St. John’s in Mozart’s Requiem.

Season tickets—offering a 20% cost savings—are now available through the New Mexico Philharmonic office at 505-323-4343, or by stopping in at 500 Copper Avenue NW, Suite 102. Single concert ticket prices are $25, $40 and $55 and will be available for purchase at the NMP office.

Both concert venues are centrally located: Central United Methodist Church is at 201 University Blvd. NE, just north of Central; St. John’s United Methodist Church is at 2626 Arizona NE, just north of Menaul.
